ok, i dont even know if this is the right place to post this, but I really want to get into 3D modeling, but I am not sure which program to get into: Maya or Discreet? Sorry if this is not the right place to post, but I really want to learn on the better of the two. As far as what I would like to do, something along the lines of either cinematic or gaming art. I know nothing about the actual method, thats why I need to go into a summer program (academy of art university) to get a first hand experience. I just need to decide which course to go into. I know theres alot more to just choosing a program, but I'm trying to sign up as soon as possible. Again, any advise is greatly welcomed.

Select the course that focuses on traditional principals of sculpture and how it applies to 3D as an art-form. Look for words like: Edge Looping, Silhouette, and Appeal. The concepts presented in this type of course will transcend any program.

Both programs have pros/cons--once you learn one program really well, it will be easy to pick-up another.
