View Full Version : Free Model
goosh 09-11-2002, 08:38 AM Hi all
Ok.. A lot of people have asked me about rigs and models.
Unfortunately I'm pretty attached to my models but still I've decided to make them available at quite a price.. This way, it's easier for me to let them go :))
Having said that. Daniel Martinez Lara (from pepeland) built a biped (IkJoe) for 3D Studio Max and he donated over to me to build a rig for Maya. I've managed to convert the existing rig that I've got for PackageMan over to IK-Joe..
You can find out about PackageMan and how it works on my site too.
You've got a free model now, use it if you will...
And if you do, just drop me a line.. It would be nice to know where it ends up.
Enjoy
You can find IK-Joe and everything else on my site: www.digital-dreams.net

Thanks,
couple of questions
you know what you've done with the knees, the knee_controller, how come there isn't anything for the elbows, easy enough to set up, but wondering why you didn't include anything.
Also, why does the wrist turn the whole of the forearm around? rather than incrementally, i.e. top turns a bit, then the middle bit and then the bottom bit where the wrist meets, which would probably work better and in the same way an arm would turn, kind of like the 2 bone setup that people sometimes use.
Also, on the fingers_controller, there's some strange stuff happening with the two end fingers intersecting each other when using the spead, check it out to see what I mean.
also, don't know if you know, but there's some misc. files inside the scene file that don't need to be there, I assume that they're there from the original pepeland model, i.e. the EXIT sign and so on, see the outliner for more details.
Having fun taking this apart! :)

Thanks goosh!
I have setup many simple creature/robots etc for animation but I have been looking for a more complicated Rig to animate with. Cheers for giving it away, its great. Its virtually the same as the one that Jason at Weta did for the A|W creature rig, I could never figure it out as I`m not right technical.
Thanks again

Hi guys/gals
Munson: Yeah.. some of the stuff was built using one of Jason's papers. It really came in handy... He has an awesome set up for the spine and for the clavicle. I found that for what I needed to use, the clavicle was to complicated, and not worth all the trouble. But the spine works perfect. Jason is a master at what he does.
Ok ok S. J. let me answer a few of those things.
Elbow: it's there. I like to use FK for the arms, so it's as a default. but if you turn the hands to IK you'll see that a hand and controler appears. Go to the big "C" at the back and turn the IK/FK for both arms to 10 and viola
Forearm: hhmm.. ok picky picky!! fine.. I went and fixed it :)
Extras: Oops.. I thought I got rid of all that... done
Fingers: Well.. yeah.. maybe.. I've exported an existing rig, so that's why you might find some weird stuff.. 'cause it was design for a different character. I didn't want to go and re-built a completely new rig, so I kind of adjusted, and move things around.. If I was going to build it from scratch I would have done a few things differently. That's why I've got double knees at the moment, etc. Anyway.. I wouldn't be surprised if a few things like the fingers come up.. it was a lot of set driven keys and I didn't want to go through everything again. :)
Anyway.. there is a new file with all those minor changes done to it
if you guys find some new stuff, let me know..
Thanks
