View Full Version : Simple And Basilar Pose Setup
marciani 01-29-2005, 11:49 AM Hi all, i'm newbue about the character setup, i've read many threads about, but i's seems to be more complex then i require.
My target is pose a mesh in a different position, not in a rest pose.
i don't need animation or IK or incredible setup or extremely exxagerated pose
i've tried with weight maps without but with no good results.
i've imported the mesh in the layer of demo example to use the demo setup, but nothing
At the end i search somethingh like poser or similar( where is possible)
I've read the Dan Ablan book..........
I hope someone could help me.
Bye

You could just use a simple bone setup or pose it as a series of morph targets.

Hi Splinegod,
yesterday night i've spent my time around your site ::thumbsup:
I'm lucky today, when i read your reply.
I've notice you are not a fan of weight map, and then point me in your direction, also for your know how; at this time i don't be able to do a good work with weight.
So much trouble inside the setting and so much weird result at the critical joint; obviously is my fault becose i'm very noob about this topic.
Thank's for reply man, i'll try quickly.
You could just use a simple bone setup or pose it as a series of morph targets.
Often i rig with a simple bone setup, here my step:
Creating a skelegon in Modeler and Cut and paste in the mesh layer
Import the mesh in Layout and convert skelegons in bone
Normally i've assigned the weight map in modeler, but like said above this give me weird result.
In your reply you say about morph target, in wich way i pose the mesh (perhaps i need bend the obj in modeler?), or what setup i need to do in layout to avoid distortion.
I've downloaded your torso rig , and i see your rig skeleton is similar of mine, but if i load in layout and try to pose , also your obj in joint point is distort.
I need modify some thingh in menu/properties (weight or fallof or i don't know what.....)

Hey Leo,
Im not against weight maps actually. To me its a better workflow to use bones first and see if there is a need to use weight maps or not at the end. Its just more efficient. If you need weight maps they are there :)
