1. Say I create a small script.
I then test it by pressing run and it's works fine.
Drag and drop it to my toolbar and create a button.
Then when I press the button nothing happens.
I can see in the scripteditor that the command is run but in differens to all other commands
that show up it's marked with red.

2. If I right click my button and select Edit script nothing happens.

3. If I open the script editor, loads the same script and then press run it works OK.

Is this not supposed to work in 4.0?

I'm using Foundation 4,0

By the way, what's the recommended way to install 4.2 and will it import settings from 4.0?

Try saving the script as a file (User/YOURNAME/Softimage/VERSION/Scripts) then dragging it to the toolbar from a browser.

For migrating preferences... I generally just make a copy of the contents in User/YOURNAME/Softimage/VERSION/ then after the install drag those to the new User/YOURNAME/Softimage/VERSION/ made by the fresh install...

I suppose you mean User/YOURNAME/Softimage/VERSION/Data/Scripts ;)

I had saved the scripts into the scriptfolder belonging to the current project.
Tried the drag and drop from there with no success.

Then I moved them to the folder you suggested and drag and dropped again and now they work fine.

Any idea why they would not run from my initial script folder?

I did forget to ask another thing in the first post.

My schematic view seems to get reordered every time I restart XSI.
I have set 'Overall Sort' to None and I did also run 'Freeze Root Node Ordering' before saving and exiting.

Even so, when I start up the next time they are again reordered.

Any Ideas?

And concerning install of 4.2.
As they seems to be separated, does this mean that I can have several versions installed at the same time?

I believe 4.2 addresses the reordering bug... and yes multiple installs work great.
