CGTalk - creative cow noob question

I'm doing one of the tuts over at creative cow and I was wondering how to "Choose the add setting for the mask. Feather the mask." I can't find how to add a mask setting and the feather selection is grayed out, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

shouldnt be if you have a mask.

your mask will be called mask1, click the turndown arrow to reveal the attributes.

but just across from the mask1 name will be the dropdown.

the only thing I can think of is its in a separate colomn, and you may not have it visible.
right click on the timeline just under the timecode settings, and choose

colomns> switches, or modes (will do it too).
