View Full Version : Low-Poly Velociraptor
Swizzle 01-28-2005, 08:14 AM Ok, I mentioned this guy in another thread. Here he is. He's currently at 218 poly's, and I still need to adjust some geometry and optimize it for tri's. His arms aren't finished, and I still need to put some work into his lower body, head, and inner thighs.

So, critiques, comments, ideas for optimizing the mesh? I'm still working on him as I type this, and he's already got more arm than in the picture. I'll post a new picture in the morning.
Hey hey, 100th post! Sweet...

yes! tiny dino! pretty good anatomy too, i'm impressed. Torso might be a tad long, he looks a little unbalanced right now. if there's anything i love more than low poly models it's dinosaurs.

perhaps another loop or two in the tail (for animating.) or else it will look pretty wierd.

Ok, I couldn't wait to finish the modeling. Any suggestions, critiques, or anything like that are welcome. He's up to 284 tri's now.
WAcky, I was just thinking about that. I'm not sure what I'll do exactly, these guys were supposed to have fairly stiff tails. Hmm, I'll mull it over.

Maybe the body needs to shorten up a tab, but in defence of the tail, when on the hunt it becomes rigid to balance the body, like a counter weight. The base of the tail was meant to be very flexible but the rest of the tail was allegedly filled with bony rods.
*edit*
Arms look good.

Applause. Great One. Very good proportions. But, alas, swizzle what is that on the foot sole ? You wasted 2 polys. Tststs. ;)

OK, I've got him down to 274 polygons now. I removed the poly's from the feet, and some from the mouth since they were unneeded. I've decided to keep the tail pretty stiff, and I've also lengthened the fingers and arms a bit to have it more resemble a model I have.
