Is this a good choice? What about "the bang for the bucks"?
Do you see any compatibility issues?
It will be used for 3d drawing and rendering (rhino and Max + Vray).
Thanks!

Looks good.
I prefer the MSI K8 Master 2 Far myself (faster OpengGL performance, and is a bit cheaper)
I had the S2885 Board it seemed to be quite good so I think S2875 will be very similar.

my only point of concern is chipset...personally I'd go for nforce4 sli if you can get it...
also your supplier isn't one i recognize...I'd go for www.newegg.com every time, they're really the best for the self-builder, both in terms of price and service.
cheers!
HD get a bigger HD, the ram is good, alhough more is always better:)

That is a pretty decent system for the most part.
a few changes i would make are as follows:
DVD/RW/ Get the NEC ND 3500 OEM. Newegg sells them for 63.00. I have several of them and I have to give 2 thumbs up.
Motherboard isn't bad, but it's a little old being one of the first out.
Skip MSI or anything with a VIA dual chipset. A previous post said nForce4 and I couldn't agree more. In fact Tyan has announced their nForce4 Duals, and they have product pages up for them.
iWill also has product pages up for their nForce 4 baord, the DK8E.
Abit even has a dual nFrorce4 board coming, but from the way it is setup, it looks like Abit had no idea exactly what they intended to use the board for.
Now the question is, do you have to buy today, or can you wait just a little longer for distribution to get the new nForce4 boards out there?
If you cannot wait, go check out iWill. (used by BoXX Tech) for the DK8N. it is an nForce3 250 board.

I was looking for that same motherboard, and this site can knock a few bucks off for you, and its supposedly a well trusted site, compared to ComputerParts USA, which doesnt have very many reviews...http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=MB-S2875 (http://www.ewiz.com/detail.php?name=MB-S2875)... its $242 at ewiz... and to find out how trusted resellers are, check this site out... resellerratings.com (http://resellerratings.com/)... hope this helps out any. God bless.

First of all...Thanks for the feedback!
I already saw the Iwill DK8N (http://www.iwillusa.com/products/ProductDetail.asp?vID=194), but it costs $499 Vs the Tyan Tiger K8W (S2875) (http://www.computerpartsusa.com/product.php?ID=1120) for $314.99.
Is it worth the difference?
IŽll be getting the components in the next two weeks, so unfortunately, I canŽt wait fot the nForce4 MOBOs. However, there are other options:
GIGABYTE "GA-7A8DRH" AMD-8131 Chipset Server Motherboard For Dual AMD 940-pin Opteron Processor -RETAIL (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-128-276&depa=1) $395
IWILL "DK8X" AMD-8000 Chipset Server Motherboard for AMD Opteron CPU -RETAIL (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-129-132&depa=1) $449.5
IWILL "DK8N" NVIDIA nForce 3 250pro Chipset Motherboard For AMD Opteron CPU -RETAIL (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-129-208&depa=1) $469.5
TYAN "Thunder K8S Pro(S2882UG3NR)" AMD-8000 Chipset Server Motherboard for Dual AMD Socket 940 CPU -RETAIL (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=13-151-122&depa=1) $499
But, again... the question is: Are they worth the difference?
Thanks again.

Honestly it really depends on the end user.
If what really amounts to minor differences, a couple seconds here and there are not an issue for you, then no, it really isn't going to make a difference.
If you are a person who is interested in feature sets, it mght mae a difference to you. That Tyan board for example used the AMD chipset, and it wasn;t without a few minor problems. Like being stuck at 600mhz HT bus, when nVidia and VIA had 800 mhz HT bus. Although only very slightly slower, you'd see it in benchmarks.
Some people get rather anal about the fact that Brand A is 1 frame per second faster than brand B.
I've seen rabid fanboys scream brand X is vastly superior to Brand Z because of benchmarks that showed an almost imperceptible difference resulting in less tha a 2% overall score.
Odds are you probably don't care about most of the stupidity that goes along with the types of examples I posted. And the Tyan is a pretty decent board. I can't imagine you not being happy with it.
