Hello all,

First post on the forums, though I've been lurking for some time. I am a total newbie when it comes to Max, only had it for like 5 months.

I've tried to figure this out on my own, but to no avail. Is there a way to unwrap a 3d object so that you have all the surfaces available to export to something like photoshop?

All of the tutorials I've read want you to be able to recreate the shapes of all the surfaces and align the 3-D object to them. I'll admit, I suck at 2-D drawing, so my 3-D projects don't look as good because I'm forced to use the standard tiled materials.

So, if anyone can point me in a good direction, I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance.

What I think you are looking for is how to uvw map a model. A good tutorial for this is from 3D-Palace. http://www.3d-palace.com/video.php?vid=21 It's a video tutorial on how to map a head, but the techniques can be applied to any object.
