i know how to add points to a spline, but once i have a spline sitting there done, and then i want to add on to it, how do you accomplish this?

In point mode and with the Move, Rotate or Scale tool active, Ctrl+click where you want the new point. The spline will be extended from the last point to the new point.

btw. u can also use the structur manager to add points :) Just select the right point number and use c&p or strg+click :)
