There is no best way, there are benefits to every method. Experiment with each of the techniques and see which 1 suits you. From what I have observed, nurbs give fantastic results, tight seams flawless surfaces. Patch modeling is a good approach, takes time to get used to the handles, could create wavey surfaces if you are not careful. I personally use poly modeling technique, and meshtools, I found that for me, this technique was the easiest, and gave me the best results. For polymodeling tut, go to Trinsica.com, the guy knows his stuff! Also try searching on google for patch modeling an audi, there is a tut out there. Try all the techniques and decide for yourself, that's a good way to learn!

Hi.
I found Max nurbs to be a bit awkward to use when I tried modelling a car with them.
I personally found Poly modelling and Sub Divisions to be the best way to go, though you have to be extra carefull to keep the mesh nice and smooth as obviously the components are supposed to appear as if machined. The "Relax" modifier came into it's own here.

Grid did a tutorial on 3DLuvr.. (if you're quick) though my personal preference is to start using far less polys, and there's lots of useful stuff at www.suurland.com.
I, like others, use Subdiv with Mesh Tools and making a car that way is definately a way of having to learn smoothing groups, which is no bad thing. :)
