As we all know the Delete key deletes, but it doesn't remove. If we want to delete a whole mesh we press Delete, but if we want to remove (which in my mind is the same as delete), we have another 3 seperate commands with 3 different shotcuts.

Is there a way of linking these 4 commands with one shortcut ?
If not, why not ?

I seem to be using more and more programs lately, so the fewer shortcut keys I have to remember the better ;)

Typical, I just found what I was looking for.

Backspace will delete a mesh and also remove an edge.
Backspace doesn't remove a vertex how I thought it would, then again Remover Vertex doesn't either. It appears that vertices can only be deleted (leaving a hole) or collapsed, but not removed in the same way edges can.
