View Full Version : transparent material in S&T?
Flomotion 01-26-2005, 02:37 PM Hi,
is it possible to create a transparent material with Sketch & Toon?
So far I haven't been able to do that.. and I would realy like to put something in a glass jar.. but I can't see through the glass
If anyone knows.. please tell me if it can be done or not.
thanks

you will need to turn your hsading mode off in the rendersettings, or apply a style tag to that specific object (jar) that has shading turned off and set to overwrite.
While shading is a quick and handy feature, I typically need to turn it off whenever I want more then plain flat shading.

thanks Kai.
Too bad that S&T doesn't do transparency itself. (to get a cartoony looking glass.. and to have what's inside the glas outlined as well). Ah well.. there's always room for improvement.
thanks again.

I think you might just be limitating your imagination and not yet understanding how Sketch works. In terms of transparency, sketch is 100% compatible, if you have an object inside a jar, the lines of the thing inside will refract. the only limitation in that sense right now is reflections which are not yet possible in sketch.
As for making the glass look cartoony, try playing with the celshader in the luminance channel. Use the Celshader t achieve your banded cartoony shading while still haveing fuyll capabilities of cinemas materials and rendering capabilities instead of the one click shading solution in the effects settings.
