The poll was posted by our own Ric_535, not NextLimit. I think they'll base their development decisions on their roadmap and on how many alpha copies of the software they sell, and the platform preference reported by their paying customers, rather than a poll of people claiming they might be interested.

i kinda agree c4d was already up there anyways...don't want next limit to actually exclude the result because of false votes imo.
if you want it and trully intend to spend money then vote...if not then its not really an exercise in beating the comp.

but nice sentiment bud...:)

I thought the poll was for those who were interested in Maxwell, but who haven't already bought their license. Maxwell should already know what their paying customer is using with their preorder form on their website. I got an email from alex at nextlimit stating that it will affect their roadmap, but I think their plans and commitment on C4D has already been decided. We should see the connection next month if all goes as plan. Max, Maya and C4D are pretty much a lock for them, I feel sorry for the users who are outside looking in because they are not using one of these 3. Like LWers, alot of them have been screaming for a better rendering solution, but we haven't seen or heard a peep out of them for a Maxwell connection.

I stand corrected then. :)

I guess Rhino and XSI are also getting connections, but I get the impession that these are going to lag behind the other three. I wouldn't be surprised to see a Form*Z connection down the road too.

Didn't they just get the new 'Kray' GI rendering system?

I'm supposing the licence will be per app, and not per artist? Of the group I have Rhino, FormZ and C4D. Not that it matters much, I don't use any but C very often.

It's not 100% clear, but I think the license will belong to the user and you should be able to use multiple plugins if you want. And there's also going to be a standalone, so....

I believe Adam's right on this. You'll have access to all available plugins. Maxwell will have its own standalone interface and material editor.

as one of the foirst guys with maxwell let me clear some things here:

if you pre-order you can use maxwell render engine + whatever plugin you want! (max, maya, c4d, lightwave etc.)

also the c4d plugin is under development... check the maxwell forum for new updates and I will try to inform you about maxwell + c4d as well...

one more thing about the maxwell licensing:

they change the maxwell license from 2cpu's to 4cpus....:)

The price is actually suppose to go up sooner than April, maybe in Feb. One of the Maxwell guys made a response that the price will go up at the end of this month, so if you want maxwell at $395, you better get it now or it might be too late.

excellent!
already saw it at maxwell forum. i too own maxwell, but do not really have much time to test much.

i wanted to do a test of a complex modell i am working on, but for some reason i getting error messages out og maxwell.i will test further. its a pitty, that maxwell isnt finished already, this wouldbe the perfect job for it!

but maxwell still is way to noisy, and i wont use an alpha for production work /-(

you have very good results, so far one of the best for architecture on the forum.

cheers
