I've seen ppl doing karaoke with AFx but i was wondering if there is a tutorial to learn it?
or a way to time the singing etc.

I'm not sure about tutorials, but there are freeware programs that are specially for karaoke (they have vocal removers, text sync, etc...) Just search download.com

I've created a script for that in after effects but it's not done, I'll have to wait for after effects 7.0 in order to finish it.

There are 2 ways possible in order to make that

1 ) masks (old shcool)

2 ) text animation.
