CGTalk - What can I buy

Hi Guys

My company wants me to go get 3D equipment for fast rendering. What do you suggest in the way of dual processors. I use Maya and Mental Ray, could you advise on:

A video card
Dual Processor machine (and how many)
Anything else

I would go with a dual Opteron system.
I would maybe even think about a 1U server from IBM or Tyan or even HP for a farm, 2 of them should be good enough. They are good for small spaces. This would be ideal for Mental Ray.

For a custom one I would go with:
I would go with a Tyan S2885 (NUMA capable) and dual opties 2 gigs of ram. A quadro card 4000 or something like that. Or wait for new NF4 PCIE Opteron Boards.
