You know what, I saw "Monty Python: search for the holy grail" for the first time today.
"fetchez la vache"
;)

Anyway,
I'm into this one too.
I don't know what I'll make yet, this far I only have 1 idea, and it takes a very peacefull sport to the ultimate extreme. :D
So I might just do it.
I better start sketching .... :surprised

lets see something!
You got it!

You know, that Monty Python thing was a little hint

I spend some time on this one.
I hope you like it. It's also a VERY BIG hint ;)

Might be fun if his armour was made out of spam cans.

Joril

caldeira: Thanks! There's more to come.
Jeffo: Not quite the one you have in mind ;)
Clanger: hehe, don't count on it :p Although I'm going for the cartoon look, it still has to be in theme.

Is it gona be: cross a street guarded by a black knight? :D

It has to be Ferocious Bunny Head Chopping
The on horseback (stickhorseback?)
Dont forget the coconuts.

If you like the Holy Grail, you have to see The Life of Brian, on of the worlds truly funniest movies, Joril.

Good luck man.

COME PATSY!
*click* *click*

Perhaps he is going to chase air-laden swallows who are carrying coconuts? (Because, as well know, coconuts do NOT migrate!)
In order to maintain air speed velocity, a swallow has to .....
:surprised
*gulp*
I have truly, honestly lost count of the number of times I have seen that film - I've had it on tape since I was about 11, and I have watched it at least once a month ever since! The PC game was excellent too! :D

Anyway, anything even vaguely Python-esque has my vote
Let's have an update, Joril!!!

*click* *click*

sssshhhhhh.... it's only a model! SSSSHHHHHHH!!!
On second thought, lets not go to Camelot.... it is a silly place....

Thanks for the comments everyone, this big smile on my face is because of you :D

I just drew the second character. I had to drew it rather in a hurry, because I need to get up in a couple of hours.

Oh and by the way:
I passed my second year !! ;)

Anyway, here's the image of the victim:

The sport should be pretty obvious by now. ;-)

You may have been wondering where the hell I've been, not posting any wips.
I'm working on the challenge, though it is happening in the background. I'm very busy, and happy, as an inturn-modeler ;)

This is what the first character looks like after a few hours. Luckely I still have alot of time :D
More to come, I don't know when though.
Can anyone guess the sport yet?

No render, just bad OpenGL visibility.

It's weird Joril... I know your stuff must be great, but everytime I try to see your image posts, I just get the "X" image placeholder. I've tried refreshing, but they just don't seem to come up!!

WAAAAA! I WANNA SEE DA PICTURES!:scream:

Hmm, must be the relationship lycos-your PC again. Have you got cookies enabled? I don't know what's causing it, I never encountered it on other pc's too.
Anyway, I'm rendering/messing with materials right now.
Oh, and it's not really a job, I'm just a stagiair :D

I put some more work into the mesh. Gave it more style, more to come.
The visor is down for now, I didn't get around to sculpt the body and the head yet.
Again, just a GL_screen, sorry, no time to render
Your thoughts is what counts, so don't hold back :D

Cool character!!! I like the design of the armor:bounce: Hope to see more soon!!!

Monty Pythons rule!

This is more like your style now. Looking back at the other armor, it had no personality. Now it's got TONS of personality. Way to go, Joril. Again, just a GL_screen, sorry, no time to render

I say, save the render shot until much later. The second half is all texturing anyway.

dmcgrath: You're right about the rendering.
Anyway, thanks, guys! I'll get back to the model tonight.:wip:

Very interesting Joril..................I like where you are headed...............You Belgians sure got talent...........

Ever hear of this little town called Aalst in Belgium ..............:lightbulb

I'll be back for more after your next up-date........Here is a shot I know you will like................

Joril
09-22-2002, 02:50 AM
Virtuoso: Thanks! Of course I know Aalst, perhaps you have been there recently?
Yes I am a fan of Sacrifice and the Flurry, checked the link didn't you? ;) I hope to hear from you again!

Anyway, here's a small update on the head, totally different from the one before, but, well, I wasn't happy with it (->stomach-ache :annoyed: ).
I'm still changing and tweaking it everytime I open the model, still needs a goaty.
I guess I should make up my mind and move on already.
Any thoughts?

Hi Joril..................My mother is from Aalst............Plus half my family. I live in Malibu California, but visit Aalst,Belgium often. Soon perhaps more of my time will be spent in Belgium and Europe then the Beach of Malibu, .............. Europe is extra Sweet to me............:)

Joril here is a thought................keep going with your Knight, it has a nice appealing look, kind of in-between the toon look and the real World look. Just add some details,I know you will with time.

Plus if possible( Time permitting)............Perhaps you can set up your scene in a bizzare setting..............Like in the movie Time Bandits or something, on top of a giants head, an arena or stadium that sits on top of the head or within a hat. Something with a real twist that matches your Monty Python theme..............Anyways, I'll be seeing you around soon, I'll be checking your progress.............stay cool in beautiful Belgium.........

Sorry for the lack of updates everyone.
Time is in short supply over here.

Great input Virtuoso, thanks, your comments got me some nice ideas.
Oh, and enjoy (your stay in) our small country next time you come over ;)

I rigged the character, but for now, only one arm and one leg have IK.
I tweaked the material some more, and basically just pushed the render button.
This is the result.
Maybe this weekend I will find time to spend :D
