Hi,

I´m possibly starting a large animation project which would consist an ocean scene with a slowly moving huge cruise ship.

I´m looking for some professional comments of how the ocean movement (waves, foam, etc.) is possible to animate with LW. The results would have to look really good/realistic.

So is it possible to animate with LW? And if someone would like to assist me within this project, I would be happy to hear about it. +There is money involved... :)

ok...some hints...

If you do a search on wakes in this forum, you will be getting some earlier topics about water
and dynamics and displacement..

If youre looking for Plugins? Nature fx should do the trick(commercial)
free plugin for ripple wake displacement effects are ripple_s ...

Otherwise you can produce good waves in the deform/ texture displacement, with
the right textures..hints are turbulence, crumple inverted, hetero terrain..
with the right scaling and strength, you should get very good results...and for moving the
waves...use a null object as a reference for some of the textures, move the null object
slightly to what the direction of the waves should be,and also move it up a little bit..this
should be done att the end of your animation timeline....theres a tutorial on simplylightwave.com on this topic maybe a little long..but quite good, Im not sure
if it still is free...
Another way is to use cloth fx ,start of with jelly settings...or look at
water taffy settings in the other topics that are listed on this forum.

For the best possible look with LW, Realflow.
