CGTalk - texturing terrain?

hi everyone, i was wondering if anyone here could point me in the right direction regarding texturing terrain....im a relitive beginner and dont really know were to start

Hey Sedric,

There are quite a few techniques on texturing terrain. I know a few but first I need to know what sort of terrain you're interested in texturing since some of the techniques are specific to terrain types -- mountainous, grassy, dirt road, etc.

well i guess i should have been more specific, i have imported a terragen terrain mesh, (mountains/hills/valleys) and i want to give it some texture for different elevations.....
