View Full Version : Animated UVs.. New feature in 8. How??
Carm3D 01-24-2005, 02:37 AM Can someone give me a hint on how to make an animated UV Map?
I am scouring the documentation but can't find anything on it.
I want to use a displacement map for a waterfall effect.. I figure I can use an image for the UV Map and tell the Anim UV to slide the V value up 100% in one cycle to make a simple, seamless waterfall effect... Is this an unrealistic goal?
Thanks!

No this is fine.
When you add the texture layer to your surface and select uv projection an option at the bottom of this uv panel (after mip map strength) called "Anim UV Options" is avaliable. To the left of this click on the greyed out button and click the probably only option which is animation UV cycler. Now when you click on the "Anim UV Options" you can change the u and v cycle rate. You'll want to have the u rate at 0, and the v rate however fast you want the texture to move. I hope this gets you started.

Yeah, I did that, but I couldn't see any changes in layout when I made a preview movie. Hmm.
Well, I gave up trying to get it to work, so I did it with surface changes only: The result (http://www.carm3d.net/Media/Museum_LobbySign.htm)

That's weird, it works for me. I can even see it in layout.
