View Full Version : Using all 2D Textures (procedurals) with MentalRay?

Hi,

I´m relatively new to Maya. I´ve downloaded the bonus tools pack which comes with a lot of new 2d and 3d textures but they doesn´t seem to work with MentalRay, only with Maya sftw render... Also I´ve downloaded some free shaders like SubScatter which doesn´t work with Mr...

Is there any way to make them work in MentalRay?

me temo que tendras que buscar los equivalentes de Mentalray de forma externa o bien adaptados para usar en Mentalray (no estoy seguro de si existen ,mira en Highend 3D), pero no desesperes en internet hay bastantes librerias de shaders para mentalray que podras utilizar como uno para SSS,por cierto, te has bajado el que hay en Alias?.

Muchas gracias por la respuesta. Ya me lo imaginaba pero lo preguntaba porque me suena haber visto en alguna parte que para usar los shaders con MR tenías que añadirlos en un archivo de texto o algo así. Echaré un vistazo por ahí a ver que encuentro.

OKay, not a Spanish speaker here, but I'm well into this...having trouble with it though. I"m trying to project a 2D texture out of a mental ray physical light, but anything beyond a simple ramp and it seems to crap out. What i want to achieve is a lot of narrow narrow beams being projected through a fog, without using geometry to acheive the shadows...any help???
