thnx for the comments lmc, mok, paconavarro!:bounce:

paconavarro: GI/radiosity/lightstuff is SO much faster, as is image sampling !

the arealights really are superfast(as the rendertime illustrates)

the yellow colour on the floor from the screwdriver is actually coloured arealight shadow :D so no caustics in this image.

cheers!

well, i supose I could comment, but what else could I say but "WOW"

I specially like the "gadget" look of the model. Also de materials look very real.
Gotta get my hand on that brazil! i it amazing

of course most of the credits goes to you model.

I really like your concept and this is a very nice render.

But my only crit is why obscure so much of the headphones with this angle. You can only see one "phone" really as the rest is behind it, and the headband is near invisible. I understand that you want to show off the turbine assembly and I can't say that I blame you, as that's the bread and butter that sets this apart from ordinary headphones.

Maybe you can show them being worn on a translucent head, a silhouette (sp?), or mounted on a headphone stand at an angle, just something to show the band upright so we can see it too and immediately go: "ah, those are supersonic headphones."

Good work-

thnx for the comments/critics!

DJ Bindhi: these headphones where created for a school project, 2d/3d animation, 2d head, and 3d headphones. I composited the headphones over the 2d head drawn by a girl in my class. one of the first test animations can be viewed here:

animation (http://www.rain3danimator.com/video/Comp2.avi)
this is one of the first anims to look at all the frames. I have finished it in the meantime. I will post the full animation friday

The Ripper:

single AMD Athlon XP 1800+ with 1GB ram.

the scene is really basic in terms of lighting, only direct lighting, 1 arealight, and skylight, and for skylight I am using quite low settings because the arealight "burns" the blotches away.

also, all materials are Brazil native, so, the glass, chrome render much faster.

the floor is a csg infinite plane, wich again speeds up rendering.

all in all its pretty fast.

:D

cheers!

very nice concept. i wish a company actually made those, because those are really cool

i personally would've gone with one gear instead of three, becuase it gets kind of redundant. either way it rocks :buttrock:

Love the anim. I could easily see it on MTV, with some refinement and then maybe the headphones take off leaving a bloody stump where his head use to be :buttrock:

But serioulsy, I like tha anim allot.
