Hullo everybody. I wrote this little tutorial a while back for a magazine and due to "pub agreements" I had to wait for a while before posting it anywhere else. This is a very basic technique that combines Maya and any compositing app (combustion in my case) to simulate a spraypaint proccess.

I don't know if anybody else has done this before (surely someone has... as usual) but the basic idea is that you jet your particles onto your object and the spot where they hit is "painted" with any material that you use (you can not only use colors but ANY fancy shading network that you want). So you already know how the painting pattern will look like because that's even visible on a Playblast.

The tutorial can be found here (http://www.digital-opaque.net/ethereal/pubs/article1.html)

I hope you find this one useful :buttrock:

I have like 3 more (including the automatic lungs for bipeds, link on my signature) but you might find most of them very basic. However if you want to take a look, go ahead (http://www.digital-opaque.net)
