extreme sports are generally considered to be anything where your life is in danger.
Snowboarding, moto-X, aggressive inline, Skateboarding, BMXing, snow speeder racing, bungee jumping, base jumping, etc.
Just think PAIN.

You can make soft sports extreme:
Cricket with a handgrenade, netball on the edge of a cliff, bowls with tigers lose, chess with Mike Tyson, etc.
09-10-2002, 10:48 AM
And what about extreme sports like an Hastings golf party with axes or a viking's drakar race through a lava lake ?Maybe a bungee jump from Jules Verne ballon-like can be a cool idea...
My favorite eXtreme sport ? Practice surf at Siouville, the most famous surf spot in all Europe !!
thx all for your note !
next time i will send a first sketch......
see you a day at siouville on the surf spot delapouitte lol :)
I think about something like this...
a troll on a old wood snow board !
give me your idea about this ! thx
here is the start of the head of my monster....
09-11-2002, 02:13 PM
nice sketch, and a good start on the head too.
If he's riding a non-conventional snowboard, maybe you should put him on an unconventional hill? Like maybe a mountain made of skull fragments, or dead competitiors, or something..
OGRE BOARD!? looks cool:)
Thx all for your coments, i will think about your idea drunkenmaster... what about a surf on a volcan ?
I like the idea and reminds me a comic about hellraiser worls!!! E E E E V I L!!!!!
Ok i try to go more faster than the other challenges, i had just make my first sketch the day of the end of the challenge LOL...
so here you have one sketch of the OGRE head (Ogre for OZ ;)...
and the start of the head modeling...
Give me your idea...
The head modeling of my OGRE !
09-12-2002, 09:45 AM
very impressive, a nice sketch, and a nicely started model.
As for the volcano-boarding, that's already been done. (can't remember who though...)
THX Drunkenmaster... i already keep an eye on your job ;)
i think about the volcano, but you give me the idea of changing the world around my Ogre ....
here is the head today...
i must continue with the teeth and the snow hat ... after i will attack the body and the snow board of my OGRE...
And i will put all this on a big volcano...
09-13-2002, 10:22 AM
Yeah good begining !! Sketches are good and i enjoy the orc design ! ! But remember to not reveal everything about the purpose of your extreme sport to let guess really what it is !! This is rule number one !
thx for your comment... delapouitte ;) i will be more carrefull...
here is teh beginig of my snow hat. i use patch because im not very good with, and its a good day to try to make better lol
09-13-2002, 11:05 AM
Yeah good thing to try working with patch !! Challenges are also the place to improve skills and test new modelling features!
the begining of the body....
hard to find time for the challenge :/
hope i can make a lot this week-end.......
The last image before the week end... i hope i could send other sunday....
hope too, i will have time to finish the challenge, cause i ve many work to do...
09-13-2002, 11:59 PM
Very impressive modeling! Can' t wait to see the whole model!
thanks ! did you beging something satycron ? i will have a look ;)
i m looking for snow board position ! if someone have a better idea than the first sketch id did... you 're welcome :wavey:
09-14-2002, 11:07 AM
Hello again Erik:wavey: I am into this as well:bounce: Drop by and check out my work so far. See you later buddy!!!
Now, for the pose of your character since you asked. My idea is that he could spin the board on his finger!!!
09-14-2002, 01:13 PM
Erik, I've always been fond of tail grabs, I'll try and dig out a picture.
The other option for me would be a one-foot tailgrab (skateboard trick) but this would only be possible if he didn't have bindings.
hi drunkenmaster ! i ve had a look to your job, really great work, i enjot a lot, and wait for the end ....
im ok if you have time to give me a little sketch of a real snow board position ,)
09-15-2002, 02:41 PM
Ooops, I totally forgot. Try these for size.
thx drunkenmaster... i personnaly prefer the first position... and think i will do something with, it seem better thann the first sktech i ve done... we will see more the model ;)
thanks for your help, hope we could have a drink together a day
;)
09-15-2002, 04:14 PM

the wireframe pics of the head troll...
i will send a image of the body in the day ;)
09-16-2002, 09:55 AM
it look like a orc :)
09-16-2002, 10:49 AM
Troll, orc, gobelin.... well it always depends of which book you read.. Fantasy beastiary is so huge !
here is the body of my ork, orgre, hum... troll.... hum.....
i have work to do on again, and i will attack foot and hand......
09-16-2002, 03:36 PM
Hmm from your concept he seemed like he was going to be a small little guy now he looks way bigger then a human... the legs look a little wide and long compared to the body.... Thansk for the frams pics
I agree with u Mangled, but with the time my concept evolue...
I have made this big legs because this guy is a snowboarder and he must be muscular !!! and particulary more because he is a orc
ok i will have a look to the dimensions of the legs, certainly i will make them a little bit less big....
now what did u think about this shoes concept ? i think i will make the number 2...
09-16-2002, 05:10 PM
Yes I agree, the second one is better !!
09-17-2002, 08:38 AM
This orc-style snowboarder could be like a cyclist and have big legs.... It must be difficult to control the board without falling into the burning lava !!
i m working on the shoes, i ve not finish yet... cause i cant work as i would like, and i have not many time, but i will go to the end...
09-17-2002, 06:15 PM
Looking good Eric. Cant wait to see the finished product. If you want some more snowboarding pics, check out my friends website. It has some cool half pipe shots.
09-17-2002, 07:01 PM
Fantastic! This orcish friend of ours looks pissed off!!!:buttrock: Great job!
09-17-2002, 10:32 PM
Coming along nicely.................
Can I make a suggestion...................There seems to be a very large amount of board types in this challenge, how about if you create your's with a slight twist..............Create your board with "Dwarves Bones".........Just bend and twist them...............It is well known that Orc's/trolls do not get along with Dwarves.................just an idea..............But anyways it's coming along quite nicely, I'll be back later to see the progress............ :)
thanks all, ;) i will think about a board more special, why not with bones .... our something in metal to surf above lave...
09-18-2002, 11:42 AM
Good idea Virtuoso. Here is a dwarf for inspiration of your future board:
im loking for a good idea for the board, perhaps i will not make it in wood (not a good idear on a volcan !) but it could be something like a metal shield, not sure it will be a beautiful boars in bones ... maybe funny but too weak for the lava... ;)
09-19-2002, 07:59 AM
i like the shield idea too. sorta like those big shields the romans use to use?they were like what.. 6 feet tall covered with a layer of leather on one side to snuff out flaming arrows...and perhaps some trinkets or or something hanging on the side? just throwin out ideas... looks great soo far.
Yes ! a roman shield could be a good idea, i was thinking about a normans shield but they must be in wood and leather ....
09-19-2002, 08:29 AM
09-19-2002, 12:33 PM
Here is a perfect viking shield for you Erik::bounce: :bounce:
yeah ! nice viking shield !
i m working on the hand of my orc now and will begin the shield just after ;)
09-20-2002, 10:19 AM
Impatient to see which shield color and materials you will choose for your orc surfer...
09-20-2002, 03:08 PM
And what about the rest of the body ? Can we see it ? :bounce:
Here is the rest of the body Mr Delapouitte ;)
i have finish teeths and the hands...
Here is a try with a circle shield like viking ( should be in the other side !!! of course) and i will make a try with a roman shield and a piece of wood like in my first sketch...
im begining to create the texture of skin and the uvmap of my orc;)
09-23-2002, 04:54 PM
Oh yeah ! Just Texture it ! ;) Ask Sam for some advice... Oups ! This is not serious editor !..;)
09-23-2002, 04:56 PM
Euh just a question... Can we see the smooth hands please ?:lightbulb
09-23-2002, 07:39 PM
It's coming along very nice.................I wish if possible you could show a few more closer views of your creation (detailed looks). Thus far it is one of the top creations of this challenge. Also perhaps you can devise a border of some kind for your shield, something that keeps the molten lava away from your charcaters sandals/feet as he slides along on it................it just seems that with all the bursting lava and spurts of lava all around the character he would get torched, a little extra protection seems in order, just a thought................That is if lava is still in your plans.
I still liked my Bones shield idea, but...............maybe for another day.....Just keep going, what you have really is looking good.
P.Delapouite...............Oh yes Jules Verne......one of my inspirations.................
Thanks for your comments.
i will put more pictures of my orc ;) promise...
im always thinking about the feet protection of my orc lol, i will certainly find something, cause i always want to make him surf on lava :D
here is the first begining of texture i make for the body... i ve use pictures of rhino, elephant and snake, i ve put a tatoo too...
09-24-2002, 09:57 AM
Ouah this is the first time I see an UVMap on this board that's great ! Can't wait to see the textured body!:p Follow this way UVW master;)
09-25-2002, 04:13 AM
wow.. really comming along nicely. of course.. i'm gonna like the roman shield better though. ;) hehe.
Thanks for your comments ;)
i will put more closer views and wiev of the hands later ...
no problemo !
here is a first try with the begining mapping of the body, i hope to finish it this evening, and if i found a little bit more time (depend of my wife ;) ...) i will make the head texture ....
09-25-2002, 11:53 AM
Pas mal... And what about a little shag fur effect on his arms to make him more viking-like ?:bounce:
you seem to be a specialist in fur delapouitte like i can see on your avatar picture :)
working on the mapping again and again, i have many time to spend on again ;)
hope i will have finish all the scene before the end of the challenge :hmm:
i have to work on the teeth again and on the tongue too...
Just a little bit more after the weekend ;)
Hey! U have grat texturing skills!That skin is great!:buttrock:
09-30-2002, 12:11 PM
Oh yeah I love this reptile skin! But just a question: why is the head in different color ?
Thanks a lot for your comment OZ ;)
and u too Delapouitte, i have use the same base for the body and the head but the head is really more details, it the reason why the colour seem to be a little bit different.
Here is the belt.
Hope to have finish texture in two day, i will attack the skining and position after that !
last render, i have to work on the hand mapping again....
10-03-2002, 07:41 AM

10-18-2002, 04:08 PM
I like the pose and the figure, well done. However, the lighting for your current scene needs alot of work. Try using a yellow or orange light, and but it "underneath him" (lava shed's light). Also, perhaps some splashing from his passing on the lava would further tie him into the scene.
You have created a magnificent start here, but you just need to iron out a few more details with regards to his environment.
Good job!! looking forward to seeing more.
Thanks a lot for your comments apt pupil, i complete agree with you about the scene lights and the rest ... but i probably will have not the time to finish before the end of the time challenge... so i promise... i will make all this changes even if the date challenge is over ;)
thanks again
thanks for those who have rate for me ;)
you will find a picture of the troll at this adresse :
Bye ;) and in all the case rate for fellah is job is really beautiful...:p
