View Full Version : render speed slows down after few frames
Hi,
at the moment I am rendering a animation. The rendering starts with a speed of apx. 35 sec per frame. But for some reason after 10 frames it goes down to 1min and later even to 1.30min per frame, even if almost nothing changed in the view. I am doing nothing besides rendering. I am rendering to single jpg`s by the way.
You guys have any idea why this happen?
Thanx

any particles in the scene?
reflections?
moving lights?
edit: I realise that sounds a bit strange...but I meant to say that with changing scenes
such as more particles being created or more reflections showing and changing light positions - scene render times can change dramatically.....ie do a mentalray caustics test with a single light source very close to the object, then same scene with the light source further away and generally there is a big time difference.
Hi,
thank you for the answer DaS_InC.
Actually there are only reflection maps and no moving lights or particle systems. It is just a machine which moves along a track while pretty much nothing happens in the background. I was just wondering why a single frame (or the first 5-10 single frames) render at a pretty higher speed than the following ones. The render process doesn`t even use all of the RAM.
More suggestions appreciated

Do you have flex applied to anything in the scene. After awhile it'll slow down the render since it has to figure up from what ever it's starting frame is. If you have any modifiers in the scene that have to calculate like that try adding a point cache modifier on it.
