Position: Junior Software Developer Department: Software



Posting Date: Jan 11th, 2005 Start Date: Immediately



Hours: Full Time / Contract





We are looking for a proactive individual with good communication skills and a broad knowledge of computer programming for database and systems software solutions. Web-based application development experience would be a bonus.



Position Description



The chosen candidate would assist in the maintenance and development of an existing web-based time management and tracking system. Possible work could include:



- Programming support for current Tracking System modules under development

- Writing queries and formatting them as web based reports for a wide range of people requiring tracking information from the database

- Web-based interface design and development

- Code library maintenance

- System documentation





Job Requirements:



- The ability to take direction well and execute on a project with limited supervision.

- The ability to liaise with Production Staff to ensure that each project is executed to its’ full potential and deadlines are met consistently and effectively.

- Good working knowledge of web-based technologies, including: Perl, PHP, Javascript, VBScript, HTML/style sheets

- Specifically, the successful candidate must have a good working knowledge of Perl and PHP

- Working knowledge of database design and SQL

- Experience with mySQL preferable, MS Access would be an asset

- Excellent time management skills

- Some background in graphics or 3D would help to understand the production work performed at the Nerd Corps, but is not a requirement

- Successful applicants must be based in the Vancouver, BC area.
