I too would be interested in any info regarding this. I have a ton of 8mm that I would like to digitize. Even the reduced rate I got from a friend who "knows someone" was still a bit out there. At that rate I should have just purchased one. So now I am back at aquare one. Thanks in advance.

If you are talking about movies made for television. They're just about the only way to get one made in germany, and also over here in Holland usually. They're often shot on super 16mm and they get scanned for tv. So they can make it into the cinema as well with very little artifacts. But good colourgrading seems to be expensive. I don't know. HBO and Hallmark make them regularly or at least put them out for sale on dvd regularly, Children of Dune is an example. They put them in theatres to make more money out of them than just tv profits, but even then it's tough to make money from them I hear. Except in amerika, where there's a huge audience that understands the language.
