Okay, are the improvements supposed to be in 8.2, or were they in 8.0.1? If they are in 8.2, then does anyone know how fast they are going to be?

Does the speedy antialiasing in 8.2 qualify as render-speed-up, or are you thinking about speed-up in the radiosity algorithm?

Just the new antialiasing technique on its own will create a tremendous speedup to me atleast.

If you watch the video on D Storm, you'll see the comparative times in rendering the cow. Those times were: 22seconds and 11seconds which would be a 50% reduction in render time. How consistent that performance will be on any given scene won't really be known till we all get to download and test it our selves. What's sure is that the video shows good potential.

Does 8.2's antialiasing replace the old antialiasing? Or is it a new option?

If it's optional, then we should be able to run the same scene in both 8.0 and 8.2 and measure the render speed differences. The D storm test may be just showing how you can render with fewer passes and the AA can compensate. That's fine, since all that matters is getting my final image out in as little time as possible.

its several new options. the old AA methods are still in there.
