Heheh, I just noticed a little funny thing. If you look at the posts in the "3D Application Specific Forums" part of cgtalk, you'll notice that Lightwave has pole position with ~10200 posts and Maya comes 2nd with ~9500. I have noticed the numbers accelerating in the last few weeks. Not that it does matter, but just a funny sign that shows how active the Lightwave comunity is :buttrock:

Hmm... Is it our fault that cgtalk had some downtime in the last couple of weeks? :p

If you ask a maya-warrior you will sure hear that: "It's becourse those stupid LW dudes can't figure out anything in a stupid app!" ;)

and imagine if all those novel-writers from newtek forum came over and started their average 25,599 word /post threads

cgtalk server would break down in no time ;)

We also had a couple of pages filled with "ooh, I can't wait"-posts a few days ago ;)

Haha, their the ones to talk. (I'll stop right here)
Anyway, I think there's little "how does this app work"-talk going on around here.

... we're also the friendliest :D

Lightwave is Very cool...

Although Lightwave is my weapon of choice... I still have a lot of respect for XSI, Maya and Studio Max.

They are all great apps. I just find that Lightwave thinks like I do, and allows me to get great stuff out fast.

Very cool...

Actually Maya had the pole until some 2 weeks ago. This is all Proton's fault! ;-) It was when he started posting that Newtek had something "big" planned for the end o fthe week that LW's forum was flooded with posts with people speculating.

And I plan to do it again....and again...and again.....I'd rather give you guys a few days warning rather then wait till the day of....I like to know something is brewing....but maybe that is just me...

Actually, if I recall correctly, I think this Lightwave forum was slightly ahead for the first 5 or so months of this year. If you go back in the history you should be able to find a thread discussing it.(oops, looks like our archives don't go back that far.)

Also compare the number of responses per thread to those of the other ap forums. This one has had a very high rate of responses.

The number of "views" of a thread seems to be high as well. Even if you aren't throwing your voice into a thread, people are sure looking at 'em.

Well, that's also due to the fact that we refresh William's announcement threads to hell and back :)

As far as I can remember (LW 3.5 days on Amiga), the LW'ers have always been a kind of easygoing, friendly bunch of people.

Banzai !!!!!!! :p

That's because Lightwave's interface was written in english, as opposed to looking like a wall of an ancient egyptian pyramid...

I like Lightwave too. :)

I'll use whatever I'm supposed to, but I feel that LW will do the job in most cases. At this point, though, I think the biggest difference/advantage between 3D progs is their interface. MAX is kinda neat if you like tweaking stuff.

I'm insanely curious about Maya. Not interested in switching. I wouldn't mind adding to my arsenal, though.

hehe I think proton made sure of that already...I was so happy that I've given something back already...(tutorial for the NT site).
I would never have done this while working in max.

It is my personal opinion that lightwave holds the key to future large studio and consumer high quality graphics.

I'm just a sucker for hypervoxels.

(now all we need is fluid effects and vegetation)
