I've always been rather intimidated by auroras (is that how you call them?). I've heard them being called firedances once or twice, it was the first thing that struck my mind upon reading this topic.

I've taken the subject somewhat literally I think...

PS 7, about 35 mins. I might come back to this after i've been on the town and update the pic as im not too happy with it. I'll see what some beer might add to it :)

Edit: Ended up watching White Noise instead, so no beer today.. Anyway, spent another 10 mins defining her face a bit more.

Great work everyone else, especially the norhern lights pic - that looks really cosy to me!

cheers,
stoo

P.S. Used some ref for this to get the pose right. I really can't draw legs too good, hence the skirt. :)

octothread: thanks to you too.
alice: this very night it's also visible in the netherlands too due to some sun spots or something. :) Too bad I live in a quite busy part of the country, with all the horizon lights I can't see it from here.

Waheee, some beautiful things here... I'm new to this forum, but suddenly realise with tremendous horror that I may not post attachments yet... Is there any other way to send my sketch?
I love the aurora, and the dancer on fire is pretty impresive, too... Waw!

I'll start one anyway and we'll see.

Eyern

Some cool ones here.
Don't think mine can really be counted since it doesn't really have any dance in it, and the fire is questionable... Originally I was going to have many shots of the feather in one shot, showing is swaying to the ground, dancingly, but I spent way too much time on the one feather and now im out of time heh. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/IronPriest/firefeatherfinal.jpg
Eh, its doesn't look really bad or anyting, but it doesn't look like a painting.... Ways too much smudge I guess. Heh. So anyways this can't really be countied, and its nothing amazing, but it was fun to do so I thought I'd post it anyways.

Deep Green Jungle - Don't you just hate that? I bet it was Sketch of the Week material too, huh? :)

Silverwyvern - really nice sketch. :bounce: Don't worry too much about the time limit. Its ok to post late, and many of us often do. Its just that by posting late, you might not get considered for that day's drawings when people vote for favorites.

Eyern - really nice - don't worry about being too literal with the topic, your feather looks like its made up of flames to me, and feathers do "dance" in the wind. Its a nice sketch!

DarcKlown and MettoolMan must be thinking alike tonight.

Hi Alice! Good to see you posting...where's your sketch? I guess you are working on your "Marta's Monsters" instead.

this time i used a ref image to kinda get shape and color rite. no dance, just fire, i wanted to try and do better than my last one. and i didn't kno how much my last one sucked until i compared the two. well, its nice to know that i am improving, however little.

This thread turned out some beautiful and amazing artwork! Way to go, everybody!

Thanks Gord!

Friday - MAN! You've outdone yourself AGAIN! Please dont ever let me know if you are some young pup just BORN with this amazing talent. I prefer to think of you as an older and wiser artist who has learned that amazing craft over time. <sigh!>

Octothreat - been meaning to tell you, that dude gives me nightmares!
haunting_shadow - yes, your second one is much better than the first..in fact the second one really ROCKS!

Queensoul - nice to see you back! Very sexy dancer, I thought of doing one similar to that, but my sketch had a mind of its own and led me in a different direction.

drewblit - that is AWESOME! :buttrock:

Her0d - Welcome, good fist post!

White Rabbit - Welcome to you too! I like your little matchstick girl, don't be so humble!

Haunting_shadow,robinayles- yep, I have been going at this art thing for a while. I got into games after school modeling and texturing. After 6 years I lost a lot of my 2D skills. (making games can really wear you out) I enjoy paining a picture more than creating things in 3D. I am just trying to get back into practice and have a good time making pictures.
I am still thinking of an avatar- it's such a hard choice.

..just like Supervlieg i was inspired by a songtitle for this topic. It is the Finnish band Stratovarius that played "fire dance". It is a nice song if you like instrumental progmetal. So i thought i'd share this with you guys. :D Anyway, all have done great work in here. Keep it up!
