View Full Version : Poser to Cinema
orijinel 01-15-2005, 02:32 AM Are there any up to date tutorials or plugins on how to import poser 5 animations to cinema xl 9? I found the old ones on poser site.

There ya go.:)
Indeed InterPoser, it works like my charm after a couple of pints.
We needed to create a photorealistic soldier in hectic schedule so we naturally used self-made Poser chars and textures. The animated char was moved to C4D with Interposer and it actually did what it was supposed to do (I'm not much of a Poser myself, but I've seen and heard people complaining this or that from other import plugins).
The current version only imports few first keyframes, which makes animating a little more complicated (refer to http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=165876&highlight=poser+fbx), but the character import was faster than I could spell 'Z'.

Well. Thanks for the link but it is only for the pc and I have the mac versions for poser and cinema. Would anyone know if there is a plug-in for the mac?
The author is apparently working with mac version,
check http://www.cgtalk.com/showthread.php?t=200533&highlight=interposer for more

Yes, I am currently putting finishing touches on the Mac version - expected differences requiring some fixes.
The first commercial release of interPoser should follow quickly thereafter. There will also be a limited (in keyframes as now and only one Runtime reference) demo version for each platform.
Price point: between $20 and $30.

Yes. Greenbriar has a set of plugins that work pretty well (I use them myself). They were designed for C4D users who are Poser content developers.

These plugs bring in everything from Poser4 Pro or Poser 5. The main advantage is the compressed morph targets, which save, literally, Gigabytes of memory when importing big Poser sets like Daz Michael 3 with all morphs.
SoapBox: No matter how you get Poser mesh into C4D you still have to rework the bones as Posers' bones are unsuitable for realistic human movement. You also have to rework the mesh to get rid of that "Poser" look.
Steps down off soapbox.
Another method that I still use is to save the Pz3 file from poser 5 then open it in Poser 4 and launch an old copy of C4D 7 with the Poser Pro Pak plugin installed. importing the Poser mesh and bones and textures with this method is still great for quick-and-dirty pre-posed meshes.
Kuroyume's Mac version plugin would be great to have to eliminate my need to go back and use the old Poser Pro Pack plugin, when i just want to import a posed mesh into C4D with all the textures. This will be handy for C4D+Zbrush users as well. We can use C4d to prepare the mesh to export to Zbrush.

Try this:

Haven't tested it in R9 as I don't have it, but it should work.

.
Well if one is in a "Pinch"and resorting to one of
those highly realistic DAZ/poser Models for a real looking
humanoid, Wouldnt "reworking the
mesh to get rid of the "poser look" ,
be counter productive???
seems to me that if you have got time to "rework" a mesh to hide the fact that
you have used poser
than you probably have time to model
your own realistic REALISTIC humans yourself .......if you are capable :wise:
OH yeah BTW , posers bones are quite "suitable for realistic movement"
if indeed you actually know how to use a basic keyframe graph editor
and dope sheet like the one thats in poser
and many other CA programs
(ALL animations handkeyed/edited in poser)
