Good day. I am about to start on a 3/4 month small animation project with a few student friends of mine, and would like some advice.

I have been roped into being TD and Animator in our 4 man team. We will be using BiPed characters, but our animation (around 3-5 minuites) will have multiple scenes files etc.

I have been watching and looking at the excellent Mata Techniques 'Custom Character Toolkit' which has really opened my eyes to the benifits of having a rig for animating, then later importing the completed renderable rig (with the skin on) and copying over the animation, or having the renderable rig connected to the animateable rig.

I would like to use a similer solution for this project, but the tools included on the DVD are there as more of a introduction or guide (as no hand or facial controls).

So I would like to know if there are any tools or techniques that i can use to achive this. I have seen zooXferAnim ( http://www.macaronikazoo.com/mel/download/000059.html ) and thought it to be quite good. But would like to know if there are any other threads/tools/books/sites/dvds i should lookat. I have a 3 week researching period before i have to start, and would like to get the character pipeline in place by then.

Thank you in advance

I'd highly recommend Alias' The Jason Schleifer Rigging Bundle
at

In my opinion, it's the best of its kind.

the Alias hyper-realistic body setup DVD from Paul G. Thuriot includes scripts for managing such a workflow, with a seperate control rig driving a high-rez bound rig. also half the price of the Jason Schiefler bundle ;) although i'm sure those DVDs would be very good.
