this is an old project now with textures
done in max, textures with photoshop, rendered with vray/low samples/
any opinions and hard critics are apreciated

not a very friendly topic. but nevertheless it is very good modelling and texturing.

First of all, it kicks much ass. The shader for the big gun up top kind of looks like concrete. You put sooo much detail in the whole peice that the guns kind of stick out cause they dont have much detail. Maybe put some warheads sticking out of the barrels. And also the geometry on the inside of the wheel peice (far wheel)....it looks like their arent enough faces on it, like at the edges, but that might be on purpose though.
Killer Tank Man!!! What are your Vray settings. Please post them. I have been going from Brazil to FR to Vray like everyday this week. Same scene just switching back and forth from each renderer. Ive been using each one since they came out and I still cant make up my mind. Vray is fast. But I bet that scene you have there with more samples will take like 25 - 30 min... which is the same in Brazil and FR. Teopots and spheres arent enough to judge a renderer by. Use it in a big scene (like the one you got) and they all drop their pants :)

the vray settings are minimum
4 samples for direct computation, and 2 for the antialiasing
the other settings are by default
just for preview
for final is best 11-16 maximum

I went to the Vray forum to see if you posted this yet cause I didnt want to bug you with settings again, in your thread, but....What was your rendertime and machine specs. :)

That looks fabulous .Chrom, I have to agree with 3dflasher tho, the big multi/ratling cannon on top lacks texture detail. I think you should add some rust and peeling layers of metal to it. That would make it more coherent with the rest of the textures.
Other than that, big feckin whooohoooooo

nice work! remember me " fallout" game style :D boy I love this game... the huge rocket launvher on top lacks a bit of definition, and it looks like done with concrete... but I love the ambiance there!

That is one Bad Mudda! Nice look on the render too. We need a render with that beast firing. That is a cool design.

Man that Sucka is killer man,, as many have said,, gotta throw my 2 cents in... that gun/rocket barrel needs much more work other than that it Rulz..
I really like all that dirty texture stuff,, mmmm tasty I must say..

I actually like the rear wall and cabling more than the tank :) Nice work on that stuff.
