This is my rig for a 3 bone legged creature. There are no up-vectors since the leg control box z axis controls its movement left and right. Now i have a problem, i basically constrained position the leg control box to the foot control box with Cnscomp on. Now I can only move the leg control box left and right if i turn cnscomp on. I encountered several problems and things messing up when i tried animating it with cnscomp on and realize it is not a good way. So I've come to post this thing up here and hope if anyone can provide me with a solution.

How do animate it safe with cnscomp on, i don't really get what cnscomp and childcomp really does, can anyone tell me?

I am not very technically proficient with rigging, if anyone knows how to contruct a better rig for a 3 bone legged please inform me, and i will send you this 3 bone legged leg geo xsi 4.0 model file.

For some reason, if i try do a link with, the thing pops to the other one that i linked it with.

Thanks, hope anyone can help, i will send a model file if anyone requests to see what im trying to do clearer, or someone can send me a tutorial or rig(via scene file) or maybe a thread that covers this matter.

ConstComp is used to keep the Constrained object in PLACE while u Constraint it to another.

ChildComp is used when u want to MOVE the "father" but need the "children" to stay in the same place.

U shouldnīt animate with this options ON

If i understood correctly what u are trying to do, try this:

-Get a NULL and make it PARENT of the LEG CTRL BOX

-Make the FOOT CTR Box PARENT of the NULL

U should have this hierarchy:

-Foot Ctrl Box
-Null
-Leg Ctrl Box

This way the Foot will move the Leg Ctrl, but u still have the Null to control the Leg Ctrl

If this is not wha u are looking for forget it, itīs 2.30 am and im tired :p

I thought XSI had a dogleg biped guild thingy that you could maybe look at but apparently it's not available in Foundation as I can't find it.

If I do that, then i won't have any control over rotating just the foot box so i can rotate the creature's foot only, since the creature's leg bone's effector is constrained position to the foot control box. And the null is parented to the foot control box, so if the foot control box rotates, the null does too causing the leg control box to rotate along the null's center
