Hello...

I really am not sure if this is done, or if I should post in a different forum base, but I mean no harm, and am very serious.

I am looking for a 3d artist with his/her main skills in MAYA 5+ to tutor me twice a month in several arenas.

1. Realistic lighting rigs, setting up Mental Ray and Final Gather, and setting up a spinning lighting rig to fake GI.

2. Character modeling and texturing (UV unwrapping and projection), as well as rigging and skinning. (I am able to animate).

3. Complex texturing with multiple sub-maps and subtlety.

--------------
I am able to pay of course--nothing too grand, as I am an actor, and you know us--we are struggling as it is. I live in a safe part of Brooklyn (Carrol Gardens).

YOu may be asking yourself, why does this guy want a tutor with so many books out there, and full access to the myriad internet tutorials available...well, honestly--A tutorial can't answer my questions, or give me instant feed-back. There are so many tutorials--even the best of them--that leave steps out, or skip them all together assuming we can follow. Having a person there to explain, to show--will allow me to learn the few things that will drastically increase my output of quality work.

I have worked for 5 years off and on with Max and Maya, so I am far from a NOOB, and since I can't afford Full Sail (or the likes), and I left my only CGI friend back in Michigan recently--I need another face to face teacher of sorts.

I'm a cautious person, and far from desperete. If I thought this was truely shady to ask, or dangerous, I would not do it. We CG artists are a nice bunch of chaps. (I am 28 by the way).

Email me, or respond back if you are in the NYC/Brooklyn area, and would be willing to make a few bucks, and work with a budding 3d artist.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

Yes I do Vlad...see that's the things. I've come to a sort of Platau with the time and effort I am able to put into it. I can make cool scenes, and evironments...but I seem to be stuck on certain things which most tutorials only seem to frustrate me with.

I mean, how many of you artists out there want to meet, learn, and work with other CG artists near you? I would say a lot--by the size of even this site alone. How can you all only be satisfied with learning and meeting people only online?

The things I want to learn now are best taught to me by personal instruction. (This may not be the case for all you amazing artists out there that became so within two years of messing around--but for me--the things I want to learn now are best taught by someone personally.)

I will try the meet-up groups, I am personally the Organizer in one already.

I hope I make sence.

Lame...

I can't even post in the GENERAL area...

So they push me WAY off to some obscure forum, into the shadows NEVER to find a helping hand.

"Can anyone hear me........me...me...me........Echo....echo...echo......"

Vladimir...

Your user group looks interesting.

Can you give a quick overview on what happens during a meeting & where its usually located?

Regards
Fess
