I know where the track bar is...could someone please tell me where it is. Thanks.

Sure..
Easiest way to adjust the range of animation is to do the following:
Put your cursor right on the timeline (on the numbers) and,
CTRL+ALT+Rightclick drag : changes the end time
CTRL+ALT+Leftclick drag : changes the start time
CTRL+ALT+Middleclick drag : moves start/end (like panning along the timeline)
you can also click on the little icon next to the frame number (forget what it looks like) and type in the ranges.

Thanks for the help, but in the tutorial book that comes with 3ds max 5 it says highlight the keys on the trackbar and an animation range will appear below the keys in the trackbar. I don't see anything appearing.
