01-13-2005, 04:52 PM
Even if it's a reproduction, it's really impressive ! Do you have a link to the original paint ?
Good job !
01-13-2005, 04:55 PM
That looks great.
Do you have a link to the original painting? I'd like to see how they compare.
01-13-2005, 05:04 PM
This is really perfect.
01-13-2005, 05:33 PM
liked it very much..
my only crit would be the ground texture looks CG..
maybe you could use some displacement on that...
still very good job though
01-13-2005, 05:42 PM
THANKS GUYS! I didn't find the original on the interent so we take a photo from the book:P
low quality sorry :( just for u to compare:)
01-13-2005, 05:49 PM
Excuse my question, but I am curious to know if this actually is a fully rendered model with lighting and textures or a painting over the second image?
01-13-2005, 06:03 PM
I have the same question as him^ Good job with the lighting, but that ground texture looks really flat. Maybe you should have modeled the stones.
01-13-2005, 06:54 PM
The lighting is impressive and captures the atmosphere of the original really well. Nice work!
01-13-2005, 07:20 PM
WOW! this is seriously amazing. Your fabric textures are just great, I have no crits whatsoever!
keep up the amazing work! I would buy a poster of this if you put one up for sale at zazzle.com or something

Like it ,like it.like.Tyhe cloth and overall picture is just outstanding.:buttrock:
01-13-2005, 11:01 PM
Superb on the reprodcution. The only thing that i would recommand is that the floor is abit flat base on the texture you have. I'd rather model it out or simply displace it.
01-14-2005, 12:14 AM
Wow! Awesome work man!
One crit though, the floor lacks depth, it's too flat, in my opinion. Maybe turn up the bump depth? O_o
01-14-2005, 12:40 AM
great work again..
01-14-2005, 03:11 AM

01-14-2005, 06:35 AM
cool lightning! i like it alot!
01-14-2005, 07:29 AM
WOW....It's real...texturing is marvelous and clothes too....
The only comment is....WOW!!!
01-14-2005, 07:49 AM
The only thing is that the floor looks flat. Did you apply a bumpmap? make it deeper maybe? or move the lighing so it can better emphasize the variance in the floor.
01-14-2005, 08:59 AM
I agree with the others: Awesome!
01-14-2005, 01:19 PM
nice work , great skills ~
01-14-2005, 01:27 PM
I think you did excellent on the lighting.
Very representative of the painting and beautiful colors. But I think the textures are a little flat. I really like the textures on the wall in the painting, with the gritty crusty plastering of some sort. And the floor does look a little flat yeah. But even still, had you never shown the photograph, I wouldn't have noticed.
01-14-2005, 03:07 PM
Just the same as the others. Nice rendering an textures.
The floor is a litle flat. But what disturbs me is, that
the original has another camera angle. Try a smaler
angle so that the nun (?) looks smaller an the picture
becomes more interesting.
Sorry bad english

I don;'t think this piece should be in this choice gallery. It's not an original work, it'a blatant copy, and areas of it are not even technically proficient in the areas of modeling or texturing either.
Well I disagree. I think that this work most definately deserves its place in the choice gallery.
Its technically superb, and just from an artistic perspective is an incredible image. WELL DONE!

I like yours better than original:)

Beautiful work, the drapery is exceptional. my crit would be that the lightest highlight part needs to be moved to behid her as it is in the original painting. This will contrast great with the darker drapery. Also if you want to make the painting look like reality then i would add some more displacment to the floor, because to me it looks realy flat. but if you are teying to imitate the flat floor of the painting then it is fine.
overall very well done!

the texture looks well exellent:thumbsup:
03-31-2005, 07:34 AM
Model seemingly is quite good,
Bumps & Texture should be enhanced, as they look a bit flat
Lightning is quite OK, but should be improved in relation to the original work.

Ummm...sorry about this - I far prefer the CG version of this picture to the original oil painting - so full five stars to you!!! * * * * *
For starters, as you crafted and created the arches in 3D you were able to position them in exactly the correct alignment - as the original builder would have done. While it's only slight, the painter unfortunately didn't quite get his spacing right for the last arch, so the perspective there looks odd. The colouring and texturing you've added to the walls, as well as perfect lighting to compliment are fabulous. I would agree that perhaps a little more work needs to be done to the cobbled floor. It is just a little too regular.
Just a thought - consider how old these arches are, how much wear and tear they have seen over the years - possibly hundreds of years - now translate that into how many people have walked a path between the arches. The grooves, pits and possibly missing cobbles that would have occurred...
A wonderful set piece to try and copy - and you've more that succeeded. Well done.
very sweet lightning, nice subject, perfect realised... so 5 stars!
