i'm pretty new to modelling in maya, does anyone have a good method for building tire tread in maya polygons .. similar to the MAX path deform method ?

Check out deform->create nonlinear->bend

(think this is what you're looking for)

thanks .. i'm going to have a go with using NURBS and displacement mapping .. apparantly it's much more reliable and quicker to render than in MAX .. so i'll give that a shot

it works...I did a tire for a friend not too long ago...and I used the bend deformer...
