View Full Version : Kobin (wip)
Spirit2029 02-09-2002, 01:25 AM So heres one of my demo reel characters I have in the works. He's an alien, from a race of noble warriors, and will be the commander of my group. His skin will be blue but slightly transparent and with lots of natural tattooing, different shades of blue and purple. prolly going to change the earings and he will be wearing a vest jacket type deal. Anyways I just wanted some comment s on the face before I go any further, trying to make it as believable as possiable. stilll needs teeth, but I think you can critique without. thanx

ok, you want some crit? there is not much to say about the acual work. Its pretty solid. its a bit low poly around the ear. some of that area is a bit thin, and its mising that little curl into the inside part that the top piece does, also the nose seems a bit thin.
Your guy is real buff, and thick, and the thinner areas of the ears and the nose dont fit. I also think that you may have overdone it with the neck.
The design is clean. there isnt much to crit there, You may want to think about some jewlery or tattoos or something. I like the earrings and I think that is a good step in the right direction.
Keep going with it! i wanna see more! great start!

I agree with much of the above reply, so alot of this might be redundant. I think he certainly needs a little bit of a neck. It isn't that buff is bad, but if you notice in the head on and 3 quarter views, the guys head doesn't seem attached to his body. It needs something to connect it. Blue is a fun color for skin, but be careful. Do a good job on your textures or he will look really fake. Otherwise I would say very nice modelling, it makes me anxious to see the rest of the body. Good luck.
chris you need to make the ear peircings bigger dude I'm talking thumb size............and lots of rings along the top of the ear too...... oh yah and while your at it .....could you solve that word hunger problem...........alright buddy see you in class

Apart from what has already been said about the neck etc, there's a couple of things that seem slightly askew to me.
Ears seem like they can't decide whether they are trying to be 'realistic' or some sort of elven type thing. I'd say they need to pull further in one direction or the other.
The area where the cheeks and lower eye meets the nose seems slightly too high and too far forward to me. Possibly the eyes are a tad too far apart too. Not an awful lot in all cases, but I think playing around in that area may strenghten the character.
The rear of the jowls seems overdone almost like the neck and seem to contradict the boniness of the rest of the head.
Otherwise, modelling wise it's pretty much there. :)

Sorry for the wait, if anyone was waiting. So heres a small update, lighting sucks. Top image is a final gathered render, it looks desent but lots to tweek. I tried to address as many suggestions as I could without losing what I liked in Kobin. So critique away again, ill have the body up later today with a few extras too. thanx
