Ringling School of Art & Design seeks a Traditional Animation Instructor
Location: Sarasota, Florida
Responsibilities:
The Computer Animation Department is a collaborative teaching environment seeking an animator with traditional animation experience to join a dedicated animation faculty. This position requires expertise in hand-drawn animation.
The position involves teaching 3 courses per semester at the undergraduate level using high-end resources. Candidate must be able to demonstrate strong knowledge and practice of the principles of animation. Primary responsibilities include teaching introductory classes in character design and traditional animation. Active participation in faculty, department, and committee duties is expected.
Qualifications
Required:
Only applicants possessing the following qualifications will be considered:
-Either a Master’s degree in Animation or a related field, OR a Bachelor’s degree with an appropriate record of professional animation achievement
-Ability to teach introductory classes in character design and traditional animation
-Experience with Photoshop and/or Painter
-Experience with story and character development, storyboarding, expressive and descriptive drawing, film theory
-Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
-Dedication to providing quality instruction
Preferred: Preference may be given to candidates who have the ability to teach concept art and drawing classes and/or experience with video, sound, staging, acting.
