CGTalk - Setting rotation with a vector?

hi,
just wondering if there is a way to set the rotation of an objects specified axis to point at a vector. I know there is the .dir property but that only uses the z axis and also tries to point the y axiz in the -z direction, kinda undesireable for me.

any suggestions?
