View Full Version : Uniquely Shaped Beings

ambient-whisper

Hey guys. New session is in place

This session will focus on uniquely shaped beings.
you are encouraged to experiment as much as you can.
The session is open to all forms of beings such as aliens,
humans, animals, or any form of critter you can imagine.

for example: you could take the shape of a pear,
and humanize it.

these models should be kept relatively low poly.
this doesnt mean you cant go into details if you want,
but the purpose is to make several quick doodles.

( roughly under 1 hour ? )

This way you will be able to focus on making a strong base,
which could be easily detailed later.

i would suggest we keep our models below 3000 polys.
thats just a suggestion, not a rule.
if you want to zbrush, go right ahead. :)

Base created in ZBrush using ZSpheres - really quick and dirty.
Mesh refined in SILO to the current stage after about 1hour.

Thank you :O And I like yours as well. Very interesting looking ;)

By the by, does anyone happen to know of a good way to texture such uniquely shaped characters in 3dsMax? I was trying to use UVW Unwrap but that doesn't seem to work too well for what I want.

was lost now i finally found ignore the part about old thread :)

http://homepage.sunrise.ch/mysunrise/angel_sr/html/content/3d/wip/speedmodeling/birdy%2003.jpg

read fantasy thingy mixed up funny thing. must have been an old speedmodeling topic:cry: . I gave myself 1 hour total time to make: the lowlpoly in max and when feel ready to export and zbrush it up. silly, seems i don't find the "funny things"-thread anymore.
so i post it here.

46 minutes max 14 minutes zbrush. 10 minutes render and write post. could have refined it of course in zbrush and gone to level6, but thats not the joke of a speedmodeling session i think. creation method: Draw middlespline. Convert to poly. inset, cut and pull, export and brush. was fun.

so here's an exceptional ugly little pet as result of a 1 hour session. I might give one to m@ as christmasgift for his idea of this great thread. i expect him to nurrish it and treat it with much love. lol

oh, the formerly idea was to take the animal called pigwhale by word, but now it's more a pig-guin. ;)

Well, I stopped him at 50 minutes. 3dsmax, I don't know how to render with the mesh showing, he has a mesh smooth of 2.
