Hi everyone

Here are some links to my short, Snapshots, that I created with Hash's Animation:Master.
It was being played at the Hash booth during Siggraph.

It's no "Alien Song" or "Killer Bean" but let me know what you think.
Any and all comments are welcome. Thanks!

really nice one ....just one thing ....sometimes it seems to me that her stance is a bit too wide ....if she'd be standing only as wide as her shoulders are then it'd be fine.....just my $0.02 ;)

First of all very nice selection of files for different people with different CODEC preferences and for people on differnt bandwidths. I would place a link to the files on the HTML pages so people can 'save target' the files.

As for the animation its excellent :) there is a lot of work in there well modelled, rendered and with a great little storyline, I was wondering what was going on all the way through the short.

If I was going to comment on it there are a few spots when the smoothness of the animation breaks down a little but it doesn't distract terribly and I thought the girls face was a little wide/square, that said, very well done.

I really like that short.

At first I went "ohh no, not another matrix effect thing", but then it started to get funny with her expressions, then the bowl flying out at her, then the baby. Totally unexpected.

I think that most of the movements and stances were good, although some of the movements could have been a little bit more fluid.

Nice work overall.

Very well done Conrad, the ending was totally unexpected, which I knew you were after, I mean having Alien SOng as inspiration ;)

There's some movements that need some touch up, like when she first walks out, very stiff and not female enough, but the overall feel and animation was great, I really enjoyed it...

The matrix effect was clevely done also, I love the sloooow then fast movement at the end, reminds me of the Tomb Raider trailer.

Very, very nice work [plugged]

P.S. that's one killer rig you've applied there, looks very flexible. Is it Anzovin's rig? gotta love A:M for that :) and man what big lense her cam has :surprised

I just took the time to scrub through the animation, and I must say that your attention to the subtle expression is very refreshing, I especially love when she dives for the cam and the suckie hits it out of the way, just at that point her eye brow raises just enough to convey the correct emotion there, that kinda attention to detail deserves an applause :applause:

again nicely done

I think it all works well... she looks kinda like a mom who would have a dangerous child like that.. so she's got a bit of ruggedness to her as a woman. Like a John Woo action film superagent-mom.

Her shoulders are a bit big for my liking but then it suits the story well. Although, I think there is some shape problem with the shoulders.

I like how at first it's just gooey blobs, peas and carrots, then we see a drink bottle and a dummy spit... really good plot build up. The look on her face when she realises where the bowl was going and how she opens one eye first to peek, was pretty cool.

:) good stuff..

very nice short!
the beginning looks a bit stiff, i aggree with lildragon there, but its getting very nice and subtle quickly.
the hair looks gorgeous! and you did it all in an older version of a:m .. i'm imagining what you would be able to do with things like lag constraints, etc!
the ending is unexpected and great and also well introduced.

i'm looking forward to your new projects, your homepage looks very promising :)

I was like, " ah, another matrix style chick". Never expected the ending though. Very cool. This one is going to all my friends.

Excelent! :applause: very Matrix! :D
I really like it! well done!
You use the slow camera motion very well and some movements of action seems better than motion capture
Just her face has not very nice morphs and the first walkcycle has a bit less quality than the rest,... but in general is amazing! really well done! and good composition and music!

congratulations! (5 starts)

Thanks everyone for taking the time check out my short, especially those whom took the extra time to post a comment and rate it.

The response has been flattering.

Yeah I know there are a "few things" that need work but I'm "ok" how things turned out for now and maybe one day I'll get back to it and go over the rough spots.

Thanks Conrad

I too am getting tired of the Matrix F/X almost like everyone else. But dispite my feelings, the creator of this animation still likes the "Matrix Look" Thats fine by me, he made it, not me. Besides, he does try and give you a little something extra, the animaiton is very decent, and the ending... Well if you havent seen the animation yet, I wont spoil it. I loved it, fantastic.

I liked it. There are some things that need some tweaking but people have already touched upon them, but all in all I watched it, didn't get bored and was asking myself the whole time what the hell was this about. That's good enough for me. Good stuff.

I enjoyed this one throughly. Its one of those you watch twice with the second time even funner then the first. I finally ended up sharing this with many people here at work when they came over wanting to know why I was laughing so hard. GOOD JOB:applause:

I'm an animator, so that's what I know best. I found the render was nice, but the model was a little lacking. It was better than alot of stuff I've seen though. As far as the motion fo the character is concerned, i found it a little weak. Some of your ideas are great, but they werent very well executed. During the slow motion sections, you had stuff moving uniformly: Her torso,hair,\and arms where moving in slow-motion, but her legs would speed up in the middle of it. It took away from the whole feeling of it. There where some snaps and jerks during the animation as well. There were other instances where she would move into a pose and then lock. You should try having some more moving holds in there, or cushions after fast motions, it'll help smooth it all out. That was it from a technical stand point. As far as using the matrix/lara croft stuff. I'm not a big fan of over doing things. It's just not funny after a while. Over all, it's better than alot of stuff on the net though.

I voted 3. and here's why. Be mindful that I'm very open with people, I don't hide what I think:

The good:
1) the concept is great. The whole girl/ kid confrontation is real fun.
2) camera is fun. especially when it's close to her eyes and you frame them. That was great.
3) overall appearance (lighting, cam, framing, etc.) was good.

The bad:
1) The animation needs alot of work. The walkcycle seems to be snapping alot. not much weight transfer. very stiff wrists. Timing: Her motion's too slow at times, and too fast at others. During the animation, she seems to snap into poses too. what's that all about? are you animating with linear keys? If you are, you should work out your overlaps and antics.
2) I find that the girl looks too much like Lara Croft (her clothes). I know I know, taht's probably what you wanted to do, but my opinion is that you could've done something else. I mean, it seems like everyone's copying everyone. This piece could've been 10 times better if you wouldn't have copied The Matrix (yet another!) or Lara.
3) The food compositing needs work.

I still thik it's cool man, seriously. I guess I'm just sick of everyone copying everyone else... it's so blah.
