View Full Version : When I import 3ds files to max the materials dont import properly
Snape 09-06-2002, 02:42 PM Ive been using max for years and have never really needed to import other 3ds files so Im probably doing something wrong, but every time import a file the materials seem to lose there maps and all of the objects are just one colour.
Can anybody tell me how to import a 3ds file so the materials are intact?
Thanks
Spence

I don't think that 3DS files store path information for texture files. You'd need to make sure that the texture files are in the same directory as the 3DS file prior to importing it.
Otherwise you just have to re-apply the bitmaps when you get the 3DS file into MAX.
