WOW! This is a really excellent thread! Lots of humor and lots of more serious takes. I think every single post deserves a "WELL DONE"!
Kelli - good to see you post again, that is really excellent. And I actually had the idea of the guitar bridge, but couldn't think of anything that would be under it. Me likey! :)
GOSH - thanks for all the compliments everyone. I'm trying to force myself to be less rigid and cartoonish and get more free with my style. This is an effort toward that. I guess by the comments, its paying off. Thanks again, everyone!
FridayEve - I agree, it should be a book cover. I love the colors too!
gordonm - I like how it evolved. Nice sketch!
drewblit - me likey A LOT! Especially love the colors, that the more free type of a style I'm trying to get to.
bigXer - LOVE IT! I think you get to name any species as yet undiscoverd..so what is he going to be called? Holey X Fish?
Is anyone besides me having tendon problems with their hands from griping the mouse or pen too tightly? If so, what are you doing for it? I think I'm going to try to learn to mouse with my left hand so I can save my right hand for the pen and artwork. <sigh>

Robin... are you trying to chisel your drawings onto the monitor or something?! LOL Try changing your pressure sensitivity. Maybe you're pressing too hard?
You have the rounder pen than I do. Mine is much thinner at the gripe... I get cramps in my hand if I'm working too long on something and I realize I'm pressing too hard.

Another incredible sketch! I think its safe to say at this point that you are the greatest person in the universe. I just really like that kind of old-timey style.

Robin, I had the same problem when first got my tablet, and although I'm not over it yet, it has to do with letting yourself make loose strokes, and try to grab the pen so your thumb actually fits the button (at first I was holding it near the tip). Je, it's frustrating when you hear everyone else say "hey, i've got this wacom thing and i'll never return to a mouse" just to find out that it's painful and hard to handle (at first). I think Wacom's website has some diagrams of suggested handling positions.
Hope it helps
Salut!

Thanks Sir P, I'll check that out.
Kelli - you think you are soooo funny! :) I'm not pushing down with pressure, I think I'm strangling the pen...trying to choke the image in my brain out through that pen tip! HA! :banghead:

holy cow-! thanks for all of your kind comments. I feel like goro and still feel like i am just learning new things everyday. I go to sleep each night wondering how to improve the next day. I am trying to put a little more thought into the design. it's a great chance to practice without feeling you have to spend forever on a single painting.
It really is good to see so many new people join up- and eveyone else is improving. Stick with it- practice, practice, practice.
That's the way Friday. A young Jedi Master like yourself just keeps on learning, a path that never ends. And we all are walking that road. Carry on my friend :)
Robin, I just hold my wacompen just like I hold a pencil. And you don't have to push that hard (well, only if you have one of those ancient wacoms :) ) And try to move your lowerarm, not just your wrist when drawing.
You're supposed to counter RSI not gain it with a pen :p, haha!

Hi there people. Yay, I have electricity again. I blocked this out on Sunday but we had a powercut that evening so I didn't get a chance to finish it. It's just come back on and even though it's not finished you can catch the general idea I was going for.
I'll have a go at the new topic now.
About 20 mins Photoshop.

Thanks for the tips folks! I guess the problem is that I choke my pencil too - After a bit of working, my hand and especially my thumb hurts...I have some wrist issues too, but I'm doing better with that...its just this stupid tendonitis in my thumb. I've starting "mousing" with my left hand at work, need a simple mouse so I can do that at home. Then all I'll be doing right-handed is typing, writing and drawing. If I can learn to lessen my grip (I have to remind myself constantly) I should be ok. This having to learn new tricks is messing with my "old dog" brain! :)
