Isn't that what happens when you try to run Advanced, but only have a license for Essentials... that's what 3.01 would do.

you should contact support at support@softimage.com .
if you have 4.2 it means that your MNT contract is still valid and/or that you still fall in the 3 months guarantee, and they are a lot better (and have the proper tools) at helping you with this kind of issues.
