Any ideas? I can't select the sides there to add a material. They are there because they render and i drew them so know they are there, it's just I can't select them!!!

Help please and thanks in advance as always.

I'm not really sure what's gone on here but a vague guess might be that maybe the normals are flipped and you have the material set to 2-sided. That would account for your explanation about why it would render yet the sides not be there.

To fix this issue, select the object, click Alt-x to make it see through, look at the model from the other side, and see if you can see the offending faces faced the opposide way (facing away from the seats). If they're there then go to the polygon sub object level, select the faces, and click Flip Normals.

Otherwise, i've no idea.

Thanks it worked.

Just a quick question. The seats are just yellow with no material. Do you think it looks like convincing yellow plastic seating?

If you're going for photorealistic then sure there's lots more you can do to them to get them to look more accurate, but from the few threads you've posted recently about this i'm guessing you're fairly new to 3D, and since photorealistic stuff is pretty complicated to achieve i'd say you should learn to walk before you run, so for now, yeah they're fine.

for a new person to max, the seats look pretty good. but of course there are a million things you could do to add to it (no yellow is perfect, some texture always good, maybe some seams added in photoshop... the seats get meshsmoothed....etc). but for now it looks good.
