View Full Version : Can you Rent 3dsmax?
SuperMax 01-07-2005, 01:34 AM Is it possible to rent out 3dsmax for a couple of weeks?
My Boss wants me to model the new company building for him seeing that I know how to model things in 3d. But i told him i couldnt since i dont have a license.
He asked me why dont i just download it, all you young kids download everything!
lol
I told him ive used downloaded copies to learn the program but will refuse to use to do a paid job.
So i was just wondering if i could rent a license out for a couple of weeks so i could do this for him.
Ofcourse he wont pay the $3000 for the full program just for one job.

What's wrong with using the thirty day demo? I seriously doubt you can "rent" it.

You can get the 30 day trial though from their website

Not starting a flame war or anything, but an alternative: XSI Foundation, $500...

I know about the 30day trial thingy but can you legally use it to do paid work?
Would be nice if you could rent it for a couple of weeks. I think that would be a good business decision by Discreet. *i think*
Just like renting a lawn mower or a Nice Big tv for a while if you cant afford the whole thing.

Well since you're using it to evaluate the software as a possible purchase in the future, I think you're ok.

If you can finish your project in 30 days, I'd say go for it (with the trial). I don't see why you couldn't use it for commercial use.

You can always look in the End User License Agreement or email Discreet and simply ask!

Ask someone if you can use/rent someone's licence who has a lidgimate copy. Make up a contract that temporarly alows you to transfer that persons licence for an extended period of time for a fee and get it noterized. (you know have the lady at the bank use the state stamp seal on it thingy) you's have to reredgister it with discreet and when you give it back that persion would have to do the same but I don't think it would be too big of anissue. Companies reformat systems all the time and it's hard to keep track of it all.. Discreet has never given me a problem before.
