3Dexcellence.com has just added an additional 50 FREE, high resolution textures to its texture library. All of the images are free for personal or commercial use. The only restriction is that you may not redistribute the images without using them. Go grab all you want. More are on the way. http://www.3dexcellence.com

Thanks.

Very nice. Thanks for the freebies. :)
Just thought I'd mention though that the first link in the 'plant' section is broken.

Great site! I do like the matte painter tutorial. I use different techniques, but there are some things I should try. The only thing that disturbs me is that he uses other peoples copyright work, and that people can cause you trouble if they recognise something they have a connection to in a movie. Peter Jackson found this one when he filmed "Braindead" (though it has been renamed for the American release). Peter filmed in a cemetary, but had to reshoot at some cost in a fake cemetary because the relatives complained. The tutorial creator though knows his stuff and is talented.

Hi, and thanks for visiting. I really value everyones feedback. I managed to fix the link to the crabapple tree texture, so it is now up and available for you. Wow, miss a dash and see what happens!

As for the comment about using copyrighted material; I think you are talking about the comment made by an artist in a tutorial, where he says, "you can find really good pictures on the internet for free, just look around". In my view, this artist is not suggesting that anyone should be dishonest. There are many pictures available on the internet for free. Some are free for personal use, some are free for commercial use. A good example is the 120 textures I have available on my site. Anyone can feel free to take one of these, and use it in a movie or a tutuorial or whatever, just don't redistribute it as a texture without my permission. He may have also meant that you can find a nice picture and contact the owner of it and ask to use it. My experience is that 90 percent say yes and give it to you in writing in an email. I don't think he meant to cause any bad feelings with his statement.

I think that filming a movie in a cemetary is a bad analogy in this situation. I would be mad too, if I saw my grandfathers tombstone getting desecrated by ghouls. That could be disturbing.

I am glad you like my site. To the best of my knowledge, all of the artwork on it is either my own original work or work that has been permitted to my use by the artists and contributors. Keep visiting, I will be adding more textures and more models very soon.

Thanks,

Scott Davis
