hi,
can you tell me what sofware is best for unfold UV?

i'm now doing with texture in maya unlimited.

Wing3d is a good solution? or another is better?

What's wrong with UV mapping your model in Maya?

The answer to your 2nd question depends on what your opinion of 'better' is... Could you be more specific?

Keep doing what you are doing. use wings 3d and use the mark edge when unwrapping your uv's. then when you need to use the colors , like toenails, fingernails, stuff like that use that too. when you're done use maya move and sew tool. i miss this tool...

Maya's UV toolset is decent. In my own opinion, XSI currently has the most extensive and user-friendly UV mapping tools, and I find myself using XSI a lot these days for this task. But it'll cost you at least a couple of hundred bucks to get the Foundation version of it, and since you already have an expensive package there, you should probably stick with what you've got and learn how to use that efficiently.

#Haha I was just stopping by the forum to ask that very same thing.

In what software are the best UV' tools hidden?!! Uving has to be the most tediouis part of the job... though I must say today’s tools are way-way better than yesturdays tool

Is XSI's uv tools better than deeppaint UV's?

I've got my UVing to a science, but am alwaqy open to new way of doing things. Does anyone have anyy nifty tips of tricks or cool tools for uving they wanna share?

If you a max user try out

thanks much for reply.
@TheNeverman: no wrong with my model but it take me a long time to unwrap uv in the character's hair. difficult to sew everything exactly, crazy when find out what is true direction of the UVs.
@Levitateme: now you still doing with wing3d or comeback to maya?
@Leigh: i think i got no condition to purchase the XSI sofware now. so maybe i must continue with maya and wing. perhaps i must try hard more to find the faster way.

...In my own opinion, XSI currently has the most extensive and user-friendly UV mapping tools, and I find myself using XSI a lot these days for this task...Since you are the expert on Texturing, I have a question.
How do I get multiple UV-maps from Lightwave to any other package, like MAX, Maya, XSI, etc. ? Mostly when exporting a model, only the first UV-map is seen in MAX. But what about the other UV-maps ? I'm talking about UV-maps that are on the same mesh/material, not UV-maps that can be split to different objects !!!

(DeepUV, Deep Paint (3D), Polytrans and some other only transfer the 1st UV-map)
