It’s official! Based on the strength of the first 13 scripts, FOX has picked up six additional episodes of American Dad. That brings the total order for this animated gem to a nice, even 19 episodes. All this before the first episode even airs.

hmmm... is this like "Family Guy" from another dimension? If they want to ripoff their own show, then why not just bring back the original?

They get to rip off their own show AND bring back the original.
It's been uncancelled: http://www.fox.com/familyguy/

I love the possibility of american dad.
The political jokes alone are going to be great, especially with seth having the same political views as a lot of people in our industry (smirks) ...
It should be a funny show, althought the pilot show kinda sucked, I am sure it will be alot better, they lined up some talented writers.

I will be looking foreward to both of these. I was pumped when they announced it was going to be getting started again. It is good to know the dates to watch for it!

i wasn't to impressed with the short teaser of American Dad either, but they was a while back and i'm sure they got some new stuff going [which reminds me, i need to watch the special on my new Family Guy DVD "Freakin Sweat Collection"]

well i'm sure he started on this idea shortly after Family Guy got canned, so yes, there are some similiarties. i've also heard the new Family Guys are very political too.
also, while watching Adult Swim, they showed a bump titled "New Shows" and it had Family Guy listed as JUNE. so i'm guessing once they are shown on Fox starting in March, the reruns will start on Adult Swim in June. YEAH!

***season 4 update***
my cousin goes to OSU and just got back from seeing Seth McFarlane at a.. ummm.. speech type of thing. whatever.
anyways, they got to see a couple minutes of the 1st new episode and they loved it. my cousin says they haven't skipped a beat and its like they never got canceled soooo many years ago. i think he said something like they have 30+ episode done.
also, Seth said the following characters are returning...
Evil Monkey
The Greased up Mute
and that spooky old man that hits on Chris
plus many more demented characters...

....you just made my day....
Old Man: Hey, muscly arm, why the long face?
Chris (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001293/): It's this girl. I can't talk to her. It's like girls are a different species or something.
Old Man: Who needs them? You like Popsicles?
Chris (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001293/): Well, sure.
Old Man: Then you need to come on down to the cellar. I got a whole freezer full of Popsicles.
Chris (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001293/): No, thanks. I gotta get going.
Old Man: Don't make me beg now.
Chris (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0001293/): You're funny. Bye.
Old Man: Get your fat ass back here.
